The REC Safe Tenets
Everything we teach comes back to three habits. Remember them as R.E.C. — the same three letters as our name.
R — Refreshments
Water, electrolytes, energy bars, and snacks — plus a water purification device for prolonged or remote outings.
Be prepared to stay out longer than you expect!
E — Emergency Preparedness
A first aid kit with a tourniquet, fire starter, and space blanket — and get CPR certified.
Be prepared to stay out longer than you expect!
C — Communications
Tell someone where you're going, file an adventure plan with Scan Your Plan, and bring a communication device — but don't solely rely on it. Some devices, like phones, may not have service. If you're using a satellite communicator, be sure to have backup battery power or charging, especially for prolonged exposure.
